Stroke Mechanics Analysis

Stroke Mechanics Analysis

The Program

Dr. Brian Gordon is considered in many circles to be among the most influential and innovative stroke mechanics coaches in tennis. He is unique in the industry as both a formally trained sport scientist (Biomechanics Ph.D. and Exercise Science M.B.S.) and a full-time high-performance coach.

The Stroke Mechanics Analysis program is designed to provide a snapshot of the mechanical efficacy of a particular stroke. In that sense it differs from the Virtual Training Program which is an on-line live instructional training format. The analysis will address key elements of current technique and propose areas for improvement.

Tennis stroke mechanics are poorly understood and often under-valued in the player development industry. Incorrect or inefficient stroke technique ignored in the development pathway becomes very difficult to correct as motor programs become entrenched. Often these technique flaws limit how far a player can progress in tennis – intervention is critical and this analysis is designed to do just that.

The Glass Ceiling Should Be Genetics - NOT BAD Strokes.

In The Analysis

Kinematics

Key positions and segmental motion will assessed in the context of the primary stroke models including the TCPR Best System. The problems and solutions that make most sense for each individual will be highlighted and discussed.

Kinetics

Segmental motion sequencing, joint angles at critical times, and body rotation profiles are used to infer muscular utilization and transfer of momentum. This assessment component is based on the applied biomechanics research of Dr. Gordon.

Injury Potential

Stroke mechanics are designed to hit high-level shots. The repetitive nature of this endeavor always makes injury a concern. The analysis looks for common causes of excess stress to the joint and muscle structures.

How It Works

General Procedure

Step 1 – Contact Dr. Gordon using the linked form to express interest. He will provide instructions about how to submit video for analysis.

Step 2 – Submit video for analysis. Dr. Gordon will review and analyze the stroke. The analysis takes the form of a narrated video highlighting issues and demonstrating solutions.

Step 3 – The analysis video will be delivered through an internet link within one week. Payment should be made through ordering the stroke analysis below.
